About Marciana
Leaving behind the beaches, we climb towards the slope of the mountains in search of tranquility and a bit of coolness. Located in the hills at an altitude of 375 meters above sea level, Marciana is one of the oldest and richest in historical and archaeological sites, its origins date back to 35 BC. Under the dominion of the Appiani, who chose it as a residence, lived a great development starting from the construction of the island's most protected fortress to defend the foundry and the mint. But the whole town still retains that medieval imprint of the past, from the gateways, to the narrow alleys with steps, adorned with plants and flowers that the Marcianesi cultivate on their balconies.
